The Commission Process

1: Share Your Vision
It's simple, email me and we can talk about what you're looking for.

2: Photos
I can work from photos, if they are reasonably clear. You can send me photos by email or share a folder on dropbox or google or an album on a photo sharing site. If you don't have photos we'll chat about what you want and see if I can come up with ideas for you.

3: Sketching
I'll sketch some ideas based on what we've discussed and we can look at them together and talk about what you like and don't like. Your input is crucial here.

4: Finalising The Brief
Once we have an idea you love, it's time to look at the details. Oil painting or a watercolour? What size painting will suit your space? What about framing and how much will it cost to ship?

5: The Magic happens
Once you’re fully satisfied with the final sketch and we've settled on which medium, size etc you'd like, I’ll ask for payment. This secures your commission in my schedule, and then the magic begins!

Contemporary Oil Painting

A loose and playful style of painting. It's colourful and lively. My oil paintings have passages of luscious colour, contrasting with detailed, expressive faces. I try to capture the unique personality of the animals and birds I paint.

Oil paintings can take between 2 weeks to 4 months to complete, depending on the size.

Wet And Wild Watercolour

"Wet and Wild" watercolours are playful, colourful and joyful, filled with light and movement. Using watercolours, inks, and sometimes paint pens, these pieces have less detail but lots of character, with plenty of drips and splashes and the occasional bit of gold leaf.

Watercolours take approx 2 -3 weeks to complete.

Acrylic Glass And Resin

Acrylic glass pieces look stunning on the wall!

The process is especially suited to large pieces. The artwork is mounted onto crystal-clear acrylic glass by a specialist framer, creating a stunning, glossy surface that gives the artwork incredible depth.

Acrylic glass is lightweight, durable and archival. So large pieces hang easily on the wall and appear to float in place.

Acrylic pieces can take anything from 1 - 6 months to complete.

Resin - Unique And Beautiful
Resin looks like poured glass. I use pigments, metallics, gold leaf and semi precious stones. The piece glitters and sparkles as the light catches it, with shimmers of gold and rich and complex patterns in the resin.

How long does it take to complete a commission?
It depends on the size, medium and complexity of the piece. Oil Paintings: 4 weeks - 4 months.
Watercolours: 2 - 3 weeks
Resin And Acrylic Glass: are very variable. 1 - 6 months.

Can I request a specific animal or bird, even if I don’t have photos?
Yes. I can still create a painting for you. Contact me to have a chat.

Can I request a custom size for a commissioned piece?
Yes. I am happy to create work in any size.

How much does shipping cost?
If you are in the UK shipping is free. International shipping costs vary depending on where you are in the world.

Do you ship internationally? Yes I do. I ship internationally using tracked services.

Can you frame the painting for me?
Yes, for an additional cost I can frame the painting for you.

Does it come with a certificate of authenticity?
Yes it does. You'll get a certificate with each painting.

Can I pay in instalments?
Yes you can pay a 50% deposit to secure your place on my commission waiting list, the outstanding amount is paid upon completion, prior to delivery.
